Dr. Birgitte Moen is a Senior Scientist at Nofima, the Norwegian Institute of Food, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research, Norway. She holds a PhD in molecular microbiology from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) and has more than 20 years of experience in food microbiology and microbial ecology. She has authored or co-authored 49 peer-reviewed publications and contributed to numerous industry-oriented research reports for the food sector.

Her work focuses on food safety, shelf life, microbial communities in foods and food processing environments. She has been involved in research on Listeria monocytogenes as well as the application of molecular methods to better understand microbial communities in foods and food production environments.
