Maria Gullo

Associate Professor in Agricultural, Food and Environmental Microbiology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. She is the scientific coordinator of UMMC (Unimore Microbial Culture Collecton). Her research actviites include the ecophysiology and industrial applications of Acetic Acid Bacteria, biopolymers synthesis and applications, the development of new biotechnological products by selective fermentations and industrial microorganisms managed within UMCC. She has experience in the coordination of national and international projects also related to transfer scientific results to small and medium enterprises. She conceived ed organized the “Vinegar and Acetic Acid Bacteria-International Symposium”, that was the first meeting devoted to acetic acid bacteria and products of their metabolism. She has consolidated experience in training PhD, master and undergraduate students, as well as visi􀀁ng scientists.

Since 2025 she is President of the Master's Degree Course in Food Control and Safety. She is member of the PhD School Council STEBA (Research Doctorate in Food and Agricultural Science, Technology and Biotechnology). She is Delegate member General Assembly of the Joint
Research Unit (JRU) in the frame of Microbial Resource Research Infrastructure MIRRI-IT
(MIRRI-ITALIA).
